Unlike its metal versions, the POCKETMASTER MONO is extremely lightweight. This model is made entirely of high-quality ebonite in the “Red U24” color.
Ebonite is a natural material derived from rubber tree latex. It was first used in the 1920s for fine writing instruments. It has a warm, smooth feel in the hand, and is also tough, scratch-resistant, and durable.
The ebonite used here comes from one of the last manufacturers still specializing in this material — the Schönberger Ebonite Manufactory in Hitzacker, Germany. This is the same supplier used by ELBWOOD, the maker of this pen.
Each pen is handcrafted by Frank Pressentin, the founder of ELBWOOD – The Hanseatic Penmaker. He uses manual, analog tools in his workshop and works directly on the lathe. Because of this process, every piece is slightly different and truly one of a kind.
The POCKETMASTER MONO is compact — just 10 cm when closed — and may be one of the smallest full-size fountain pens in the world. When the cap is posted on the back, it becomes a well-balanced pen for writing. The grip section features fine grooves for better control, and the threaded back allows secure posting of the cap.
The design is minimal, clean, and timeless. It fits well even in large hands, and when closed, it’s easy to carry in your pocket.
This version comes with an 18K gold nib. The nibs are made by JoWo (Germany), one of the top nib manufacturers in the world.
The pen uses standard international ink cartridges. A few cartridges (royal blue) are included in the box.

Please note: ebonite naturally changes color over time with UV exposure. This is normal. If preferred, the surface can be polished to restore the original tone, but this is not considered a defect.
