Pocketmaster Mono "Aquamarine" Pure Ebonite Fountain Pen

Unlike its metal counterparts, the POCKETMASTER MONO is extremely light. This model is made entirely of high-quality ebonite in the “Aquamarine U5.5” finish.

Ebonite is a natural, sustainable material made from rubber tree sap (caoutchouc). Originally developed in the 1920s for high-end writing tools, it has a warm, smooth feel and is known for being durable and scratch-resistant.

The ebonite used here comes from Schönberger Ebonite Manufactory in Hitzacker, Germany—one of the few workshops still producing this historic material.

The design and craftsmanship come from Frank Pressentin, founder of ELBWOOD, a small workshop known for handmade writing instruments. He uses vintage manual machines and works directly on the lathe, shaping each piece by hand. Each pen is slightly different—no two are identical.

At just 10 cm when closed, the POCKETMASTER MONO is one of the smallest full-size fountain pens available. When the cap is screwed onto the back, it becomes a well-balanced pen with a comfortable grip. The ribbed section in the middle adds a unique visual detail and improves handling.

The nib plays a central role in the writing experience. While this model is usually offered with a black steel nib, the version we carry comes with an 18K gold nib (JoWo No. 6, made by JoWo Berliner Schreibfeder GmbH).

The pen uses standard ink cartridges. A few cartridges in royal blue are included.

Note: Ebonite naturally changes color over time due to light exposure. This can be polished if desired, but it’s considered a normal characteristic of the material—not a defect.
