Patron of Art Homage to Albert Limited Edition 888 Fountain Pen

The Montblanc Patron of Art Edition 2022 is dedicated to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The Limited Edition 888 is a pair: one pen for Victoria, one for Albert.

The "Homage to Albert" edition honors Prince Albert’s achievements. The fountain pen has a cap and barrel in gray translucent lacquer, with a solid Au 750 gold skeleton overlay. The design is inspired by the Crystal Palace, which Albert built for the Great Exhibition in 1851. The gray color recalls the tartan he designed for Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Fittings are platinum-coated. The clip, shaped like Victoria’s scepter, features a red garnet. The cap top echoes the Crystal Palace dome and holds the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl.

The cap ring is engraved with “Albert” and their wedding date, like a wedding band. The cone has a special engraving. The nib, made of solid Au 750 bi-color gold, shows a design based on Albert’s coat of arms from Saxony.

Montblanc uses “signature gold” to describe this specific shade of yellow gold used in their pens.
