The Sailor King of Pen Kuro-beni Tamenuri showcases a traditional Urushi technique called Kuro-beni, which highlights reddish-black hues. This color was historically used in Japan as a base for luxurious kosode (short-sleeved kimonos) during the early Edo period. Kuro-beni is also mentioned in the novel Yorozu no Fumi Hougu by Ihara Saikaku, a renowned Edo-period author.
This fountain pen embodies a clean, understated design, emphasizing the elegance of the King of Pen’s signature cigar shape. Crafted from ebonite, it features a stunning 21k gold nib in the King of Pen size and uses the Sailor proprietary cartridge/converter filling system. Each barrel is individually signed by the artist Koushu Nishihara.
The pen is presented in a lacquered black box, adding an exquisite touch to the Sailor King of Pen Kuro-beni Tamenuri.
