NAMIKI Emperor Rakucho Birds and Weeping Cherry Blossom Fountain Pen

The Rakucho is an imaginary bird that gracefully soars through paradise. Often depicted in pairs, it represents the hope for a long and joyful marriage, with both partners sharing a deep desire for eternal togetherness. The cherry blossom petals adorning the pen are meticulously inlaid with mother-of-pearl and polished to achieve a sophisticated finish.

The tree trunk depicted in the background is crafted using the oh-hi-nuri technique, a traditional method of painting cherry blossom bark. These pens, inspired by legendary creatures, are masterfully created by renowned artisans from the Kokkokai group. They showcase intricate craftsmanship through the use of raden inlay, along with the taka and togidashi maki-e techniques. Each pen bears the signature of Masahiro Yamada.

An extraordinary feature of this pen is its No. 50 nib, made of 18-karat gold. This nib is notably larger than those found on most other writing instruments, earning it the nickname ‘No. 50 Jumbo.’

The pen also includes an eyedropper filling system, incorporating the same ink-stopping mechanism used in the original Namiki eyedropper pens from the 1930s, ensuring consistent ink flow and preventing leaks
