Great Characters Homage to Queen

A legendary musical legacy spanning five decades finds new expression through the art of writing. Montblanc’s Great Characters Homage to Queen collection transforms the band’s sound, symbolism, and stage presence into a series of meticulously crafted writing instruments.

Inspiration

Montblanc turns to the British music scene, drawing inspiration from one of the most legendary rock bands of the 1970s – whose sound still resonates today. The collection revisits key moments from Queen’s artistic journey, translating them into distinctive design elements across each edition.

Design & Materials

Presented in deep blue precious resin with gold-coated fittings, the Montblanc Great Characters Homage to Queen Special Edition takes inspiration from the band’s Greatest Hits II album. Engravings referencing each member’s musical contribution appear throughout, while the clip echoes a microphone stand – an unmistakable nod to Freddie Mercury’s stage presence. The cap top recalls the crown worn during Queen’s iconic concert finales, and the handcrafted 14k gold nib is decorated with Queen’s crest, designed by Mercury himself.

The Montblanc Great Characters Homage to Queen Limited Edition 1975 pays tribute to the band’s artistic vision with a black-and-white rhomboid lacquer barrel inspired by Mercury’s harlequin stage outfit. Stylized portraits of the band members appear on the black PVD-coated cap, drawing from the artwork of the Queen II and Hot Space album covers.
Limited to 1,975 pieces, the edition commemorates the release year of A Night at the Opera. The 18k gold nib of the edition is adorned with Freddie Mercury’s silhouette in one of his most iconic stage poses.

The collection is complemented by a special notebook, a bottle of red ink, and themed cufflinks.

Collectibility

A true collector’s item for any admirer of Queen’s legacy, the Special Edition is available as a fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint pen, while the Limited Edition 1975 is offered exclusively as a fountain pen and rollerball.
