The Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days collection is based on Jules Verne’s novel. This Doué Classique fountain pen refers to the second part of the trip, from Bombay to Yokohama.
The pen has a gold-coated metal cap and an anthracite lacquer barrel. The cap shows an engraved elephant, recalling the animal used in this part of the journey. The engraved pattern on the cap blends Indian, Chinese, and Japanese motifs, symbols of luck.
The clip has a red diamond card symbol. The cone features engravings inspired by Princess Aouda’s jewelry and card suits—referring to Mr. Fogg’s bet. The top of the cap is marked with “25 days” for this leg of the trip, and “80 days” total.
The nib is hand-made in 18K gold. It shows a hot air balloon with the dates “20/10” and “14/11”: Fogg leaves Bombay at 8 p.m. on October 20, and departs Yokohama at 6 p.m. on November 14.
