Sailor

Ninja 2nd Edition: Weapons, Mystery and Myth

The second Ninja series from Sailor focuses on the tools of one of Japan’s most secretive warriors. These weapons were not only designed for combat but also for strategy and deception, shaping the way Ninja operated in history.

01

The Katana

Ninja used the katana differently from samurai. They weren’t interested in long fights. Their strikes had to be fast and precise. The katana was both weapon and symbol. Silent draw, clean cut: end the fight before it begins.

02

The Kusarigama and the Power of Control

The kusarigama had two parts: a sickle (kama) and a chain (kusari). Ninja could use it to entangle limbs, trap weapons, or pull opponents off balance. Control was key. With reach and flexibility, it turned combat into a mind game.

03

Shuriken and Mythic Symbols

Shuriken were not only weapons but distractions, striking trees or stones to spread fear. Ninja also drew from myth—like the Shachihoko, a tiger-headed fish seen on rooftops as a protector. Together, these show how fear and legend shaped their world.
