ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

The Namiki Emperor Goldfish maki-e fountain pen showcases the Shishiai-Togidashi-Taka Maki-e technique, known for its burnished-raised artistry. This intricate design is created through multiple layers of lacquer, a process that takes several months to complete. The Namiki Emperor fountain pen is distinguished by its traditional 18-karat gold nib, adorned with the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji. This remarkable No. 50 nib is exceptionally large, surpassing the size of all other writing instrument nibs, earning it the nickname ‘No. 50 Jumbo’. It is even larger than a #8 sized nib or the Montblanc 149 nib. Featuring an eyedropper filling system, the Namiki Emperor boasts an impressive ink capacity of 6 ml. It incorporates the original ink stopping mechanism from Namiki's 1930s eyedropper pens, which regulates ink flow and prevents leakage. After filling the barrel with the provided eyedropper, the section is screwed back in place, sealing the ink inside. By turning the knob at the end of the pen, a valve opens, allowing ink to flow from the barrel to the reservoir connected to the writing section. Once the valve is closed, only the ink in the reservoir is used for writing. The reservoir can be refilled from the barrel as needed, and for extended writing sessions, the valve can remain open for continuous ink flow. In the early 20th century, a fountain pen incorporating the traditional Japanese art of Maki-e emerged. Renowned for its robust lacquer-finished body and the delicate, elegant designs crafted by skilled artisans, these pens have earned international acclaim. This craftsmanship and spirit are embodied in Namiki, the most renowned name in Maki-e fountain pens since its founding in 1925. As the premier maker of Maki-e fountain pens, Namiki seamlessly blends skill and tradition, a legacy that also underpins the Pilot fountain pen brand
